Land of Alicante
This is an elongated valley, in the shape of a corridor with a northeast-southwest direction, where the Gallinera River has its source and flows, surrounded by mountains: the Sierra del Almirante, the Sierra de la Albureca and the Sierra Foradada.
As in all other inland valleys of the Marina Alta, the Arabs occupied these lands for almost six centuries. La Marina es un pueblo costero administrado por la ciudad de Elche, en la provincia de Alicante, en la Costa Blanca española. Cerca, en el interior, hay una gran urbanización construida a partir de mediados de los años ochenta que, confusamente, también se llama La Marina: más correctamente se llama Urbanización La Marina. El pueblo se encuentra en la ruta de autobús Costa Azul que proporciona acceso hacia el norte a Alicante y hacia el sur a Torrevieja y, en última instancia, Cartagena.
La Marina es una pedanía del municipio de Elche, provincia de Alicante. Está situada junto al mar Mediterráneo, junto a la Sierra del Molar, muy cerca de Guardamar del Segura y junto a las Salinas de Santa Pola. La playa, de 1’5 km de longitud, recibe el mismo nombre. El acceso principal a La Marina se realiza a través de la carretera nacional N-332.
